At Larchwood, we are dedicated to breeding high-quality pedigree Shetland sheep, combining strong bloodlines, sound conformation and excellent fleece characteristics. The Shetland breed
Shetland sheep are one of the UK's most distinctive native breeds. Renowned for their hardiness, longevity and easy lambing, they remain remarkably close to their traditional origins. Their small size and calm nature make them easy to handle, while their browsing habits and ability to thrive on poorer grazing make them ideal for conservation projects and smallholdings.
The breed is famous for its extraordinary variety of natural colours and markings, with eleven recognised base colours and numerous traditional patterns. No two flocks are exactly alike, creating endless interest for breeders and fibre enthusiasts alike.
Shetland wool is prized throughout the world for its softness, versatility and natural beauty. Fleeces range from fine, silky fibres suitable for delicate garments to more traditional primitive fleeces favoured by hand spinners and textile artists.
Shetland Ewes
Our pedigree Shetland ewes are selected for breed character, fleece quality and temperament. Whether you are establishing a new flock or introducing new bloodlines, our ewes offer a strong foundation for future breeding programmes.

Shetland Rams
We occasionally offer pedigree Shetland rams that demonstrate excellent breed type, sound structure and desirable fleece characteristics for sale or for hire.
Shetland Wethers
Pedigree Shetland wethers make attractive, easy-to-manage sheep for smallholdings, conservation grazing and companion animals. Hardy, intelligent and full of character, they are ideal for those who appreciate the beauty of the breed without wishing to breed from their stock.
Raw Fleeces
Each year we offer a selection of raw Shetland fleeces in a range of natural colours, shades and fleece types. Popular with hand spinners, felt makers, weavers and fibre artists, our fleeces are carefully skirted and graded to ensure excellent quality.
Equipment Hire
A selection of croft and smallholding equipment is available for hire, including a mini digger, quad/ATV flail mower, tipping trailer and other machinery for land management and maintenance tasks.
